I would like to know how safe is Road travelling around Egypt in general? We are planning to fly Cairo to Aswan (around 2 nights here), then do all the sightseeing in Aswan by a private car taxi.
After that, head to Luxor by road, and then do the local sightseeing in Luxor again by private car taxi.
So is it safe travelling between Aswan and Luxor, and also Cairo to Alexandria?
Also, Can you please suggest me how many days you would recommend spending in Alexandria , Luxor & Aswan.

1.Aswan to Luxor (approx 200-225kms)
2. Cairo to Alexandria (approx 200-225kms)
Would this still be recommened to be done by Train? or for this short journey, Car taxi would be good?

You people have really read my mind and have answered some questions i had in my mind, but didnt put on words. Like travelling to Hurghada, etc. I read about travelling there via Convoys only.
Basically, we have booked for a private TAXI with a chauffer/guide (We will not be driving the car) .
My concern was would it be safe to travel like this between -
Cairo - to Alexandria ?
Aswan to Luxor?
Would i still need to go via convoys in these above mentioned routes, or its perfectly safe with a Private Car with a local driver cum guide?
