If as Americans we were against the Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain why are we building the Steel Curtain?

Has American hypocrisy reached the point of no return.
Have we finally decided that this is the point in time where the definition of “America” must be defined.
Or instead will we just react the same way the next “threat” from non-whites arise.
After all, we decimated the American Indians under this premise. The we lynched the blacks into submission. Then we incarcerated the Japanese for years.
Why does fear have to drive the “American way of life”.
